Strides Spa and Wellness Centre is pleased to welcome Dr. Michele MacLean to their wellness team. Dr. Michele MacLean has extensive medical experience for over 30 years working in Family Practice.

She had been interested in Cosmetic Dermatology procedures since 2012 and is enthusiastic to be offering cosmetic medicine to our patients and community.

After graduating with her MD from Dalhousie University, she interned at McGill after which she studied for 2 additional years at University of Massachusetts to receive her American Academy of Family Practice Degree in 2001.

She has attended courses in Botox and Fillers and enjoys being a member of Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine.

Paula Miller RN BN

Paula received her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of New Brunswick (1997), and holds a current RN license with CRNNS – Nova Scotia.

Paula has extensive knowledge and experience in the Medical Aesthetics industry having worked with many well-respected physicians and RN’s both regionally and nationally. Paula worked for Allergan (the maker of Botox Cosmetic & Juvederm), as their Clinical Consultant -trainer & educator for Atlantic Canada, Alberta & Interior BC from 2011-2014. Over her 3 years she meet and trained with top injectors throughout Canada, and attended many national and international conferences and meetings. In this role she developed a true love and passion for Botox Cosmetic & Juvederm injections.

With over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/medical industry. Paula has worked as a Nurse with ENT, Oral Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Burn unit.

The Dirty Dozen and The Clean Fifteen!

Many people don’t realize that pesticide residues are common on conventionally grown produce even after it is carefully washed or peeled! The Environmental Working Group evaluated thousands of samples of produce for the presence of different pesticides and pesticide breakdowns and found there are significant differences among various types of produce.

They developed a guide to help you including the Dirty Dozen (the fruits and vegetables with the most pesticide residues) and the Clean Fifteen (few, if any residues were detected).

You should always try to eat fruits and veggies that are organic but when buying organic produce isn’t an option, this guide can help you choose which produce to buy organic or avoid and which is safe, to ensure you are having all the benefits of a diet rich in fruits and veggies while still limiting your exposure!

How to do it:

Eat all of your daily calories within a shortened window of 6-8 hours and then fast for the remaining 14-16 hours. You can do this every day or a few times per week. I stop eating around 6pm after my dinner meal and I don’t eat again until around 11am the next morning. I do have my coffee with coconut oil in the mornings. You can adjust your hours according to what works best for your lifestyle.
