Holly Baker

Holly is excited to introduce herself to our growing community of East Hants as Creative Director at Strides Spa and Wellness Centre. As a veteran in the beauty industry, she is thrilled to share and grow a team that is well educated and technical with customer-focused disciplines. Through education and mentoring practices, she aims to provide all guests with the most contemporary and consistent experiences available!

Through her 30-year career in this wonderful industry, graduating from HDC class of 92/93, education and information sharing has kept the love alive. She believes that every aspect of this industry including advanced colour, advanced cutting, long hair design, extensions, colour correction, blending, grey, blending/coverage, styling including blowouts and undoes, perms, and of course education, mentorship and leadership is essential.

Holly started her educating career with The Head Shoppe in 1993 and hasn't stopped. She received her master instructor license in 2000 and continued to be active in the technical skills development part-time at HDC School (2002/2005) and then CBBC School (2020/2021) and has continued educating licensed stylist in salons daily. 

​

There are always new and exciting things to learn and participate in that helps keep us relevant and inspired. From her first competition out of school in 1993, Holy won first place for long-haired design in 1997 and placing it first and second in 2000.

Sheila Theriault

Sheila brings over 30 years of knowledge and experience to her clients. She has trained as a technical advisor for Schwarzkopf in Toronto and taught hair colour and techniques to hairstylists across the province.

Sheila has taught Redken hair colour and provided professional training and career development for students at the Hair Design Centre in Halifax after obtaining her Adult Education Certification. 

​

Her dedication to excellence and client satisfaction has earned her a loyal following and numerous positive reviews. Sheila believes the power to transform a person on the outside affects our mental health and helping people feel and look their very best is both rewarding and her priority. "I can't imagine doing anything else!"

Sheila looks forward to meeting you and will provide solutions and products for all your hair care needs.

Katie Barteaux

As a hairstylist with 20+ years of experience, Katie is a Redken Certified Hair Colourist and Master Instructor, who recently taught Cosmetology for 3 years.

​

She has worked at many hair shows, volunteered for cut-a-thons for charity, and styled hair at the Junos in 2006.

​

Her favourite 'trend' today is to help you showcase whatever your true style is. "Anything goes right now, and I love trying it all!"

​

From clipper cuts to curly locks, or low maintenance colour, foliage, lived in rich tones, to fun fashion colour, she's got you!

​

Her clients always have great laughs and chats. She never skips the relaxing scalp massage and always recommends a treatment for your healthiest hair!

​

She loves to travel, cook and talk recipes - all things health and wellness. Katie cannot wait to see you in her chair!

Megan MacDonald

Megan has 4 and a half years of experience. She joined our team in 2022 after moving to East Hants. Since then, she has been happily serving the community alongside the Strides team. Starting her career during a pandemic certainly wasn't easy, but it brought many opportunities to learn about people and how to work through almost anything. 

​

Dedicated to giving her clients the best experiences she can, Megan enjoys doing a variety of hairstyles, from clipper cuts, colours, foils, and special occasion hairstyles. One of her favourite things about hairstyling is seeing the joy on her guests' faces as they leave feeling confident and beautiful with their hair once again.

​

In Megan's spare moments she enjoys spending time with her husband, her dog, and a good book.

Emily Gale

As a junior hairstylist, Emily graduated from CBBC Halifax and has lived in Nova Scotia most of her life! She's deeply passionate about elevating every client's experience in the salon with a love for blow outs, haircut transformations, and all hair types and textures. She believes that hair is a powerful form of self-expression and is dedicated to helping clients achieve the hair of their dreams. 

​

She is confident when creating both lived-in/low-maintenance and fashion/high-maintenance colour looks, that are both on-trend and personalized to everyone. Emily is passionate about educating her clients on hair and scalp care as well as maintaining their beautiful and vibrant colour!

​

In addition to her love of all things hair, she is also an advocate for mental health needs. She believes that hair care is essential for everyone and is committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all her clients. 

​

When Emily isn't cutting or colouring hair, you can find her with her 2-year-old pup Faye and her husband Jeff relaxing at home. Emily also loves yoga, crystals and sloths!
